The current Port of Baku Main Cargo Terminal (MCT) is located in downtown Baku city. There are three berths with a total length of 545 metres. One of the berths can be used to handle Ro-Ro vessels, which transports passengers and motor vehicles regularly between Baku and Turkmenistan. The depth at the quayside is -7 metres Caspian datum. The berths are equipped with fourteen portable cranes with lifting capacities of up to forty tonnes. Forklift trucks with capacities from 1.5 to 10 tonnes and reach stacker handles with up to thirty-eight tonnes are used efficiently to handle general and container cargoes. The terminal constantly handled more than one million tonnes of general, bulk and container cargoes including cement, clinker and armature in 2013 and 2014. A total of three ships of up to a capacity of 150 wagons and 100 trucks can be handled simultaneously during one day. The total railway length is eight kilometres with 400 metres accessible in the port. This enables the smooth disembarking and loading of cargo with access to rail wagons. Two diesel locomotives carry out the shunting. The terminal is equipped with a railroad and truck scales, which facilitate the easy delivery of cargo to the port. The total area of the open yard is about 19,000 m2 and the sheltered warehouse is about 6,000 m2.
