The monument and park complex built to perpetuate the memory of martyred port employees in Port of Baku was inaugurated

A monument and park complex created to commemorate the port workers killed in the Karabakh War was inaugurated on the territory of the Baku Port. The ceremony, held in the village of Alyat, was attended by family members and veterans of port workers killed in the First and Second Karabakh Wars, along with Port of Baku authorities. The ceremony included a moment of silence and the playing the national anthem.

Speaking later, Director General Taleh Ziyadov said 2020 was the most memorable year in the history of the independence of Azerbaijan, that our valiant army under the leadership of Commander-in-Chief President Ilham Aliyev dealt the enemy a crushing blow and ended the occupation. Noting the Azerbaijani soldiers had shown unequaled courage on the way to this great victory, the General Director said employees of the Baku port had also taken part in the battles fought in different directions of the front in the Great Patriotic War. It was noted that Mirsafa Rzayev, who worked as a controller on the Ferry terminal, had risen to the height of martyrdom in the battles for the freedom of Fizuli, and all martyrs were asked for mercy from God. They also expressed their gratitude for this initiative and for their continued attention.

After the opening ceremony, a meeting was held with family members of the martyrs and participants of the Patriotic War, and their opinions were listened to.

It should be noted that the park, built on an area of 1,500 square meters, has been erected. A large number of ornamental trees and flower bushes capable of adapting to climatic conditions have been planted in the park, benches have been placed and a lawn has been laid.
