Another environmental protection strategy developed in Port of Baku
The Port of Baku, which has always considered the preservation and improvement of the environment a top priority, has successfully completed the implementation of a number of international projects within this goal and has become the first port in the region with the status of “Green Port”. In addition, this year the Port of Baku again received the EcoPorts certificate from the European Organization of Seaports. Thus, within the framework of the project “support for strengthening the operational potential of the port of Baku-Phase 2” funded by the European Union, a number of successful activities were carried out to protect the environment in the Port of Baku and proactive preventive measures were applied to minimize environmental risks.
As the next direction, Port of Baku aimed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to "0" by 2035, within the framework of the current ecological development concept, to strengthen air quality control. For this reason, together with international experts, a long-term strategy "Port of Baku 2035 - Zero CO2 Emission" was prepared, which was presented today to the management of Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC. At the event, it was once again emphasized that the new strategy will serve as a basis and practical steps in this direction will achieve the goal in the Port of Baku.
