High-Level Latvian Delegation Visits Port of Baku
Today, the Latvian Delegation, led by Mr. Uldis Reimanis, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport of Latvia, visited the port of Baku. The delegation also included Ms. Svetalana Abaskina, Vice-President of the national airline company AirBaltic, and Ms. Elina Strodaha, Chairman of the board of the Latvian Stevedoring Company Association.During the visit, the guests engaged in fruitful discussions regarding the growing significance of the Middle Corridor in global connectivity and the strategic positioning of the Port of Baku to link Asia and Europe. Notably, the Port of Baku has signed Memoranda of Understandings to establish robust partnerships with more than 10 prominent ports and companies in EU countries. These agreements prioritize the enhancement of collaboration in cargo throughput, knowledge exchange, sustainability, and digitalization.
Additionally, it was emphasized that Latvian ports, such as Riga Port, Ventspils Port, and Liepaja Port, are keen to establish partnerships with the Port of Baku. Moreover, cargo volume transshipped to EU countries via the Port of Baku has surged over 20% compared to last year, exceeding 1 million tons this year.
