The high-level delegation of the European Union, led by the EU Special Representative for Central Asia, Ambassador Terhi Hakala, visits the Port of Baku
During the visit, Ambassador Hakala and her delegation met with Taleh Ziyadov, Director-General of the Port of Baku, and Vagif Sadigov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Belgium, at Alat in the Port of Baku.The meeting focused on the Port of Baku's important role in strengthening regional sustainable economic development, its strategic importance in the global connectivity of Europe and Asia along the Middle Corridor, and the further development of existing cooperation in the field of Green Port initiatives.
Discussions also covered the projects undertaken by the port in sustainable development and public-private partnerships for green port activities, aligning with the port's ESG strategy based on its 2035 Net zero emission plan.
It is worth noting that the Port of Baku has been collaborating with the European Union since 2016, leading to the successful implementation of various joint projects related to green port initiatives, digitization, and enhancing port operational efficiency.
