(July 13, 2024 - Baku) Today, the OSCE delegation, led by Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid, visited the Port of Baku. Mr. Rovshan Sadigbayli, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Austria, was also in attendance. The delegation was welcomed by Dr. Taleh Ziyadov, Director-General of the Port of Baku.

During the meeting, discussions were held on Azerbaijan’s hub concept, as well as previous joint regional projects with the OSCE focused on greening the Middle Corridor. The conversation also touched on the future sustainability of these projects in the Caspian region. Both sides explored ways to expand the Port of Baku’s throughput capacity, enhance ESG initiatives, and develop effective and efficient supply chain procedures along the Middle Corridor.

Additionally, both sides agreed on the importance of the recently established regional Caspian data and monitoring center at the Port of Baku. They emphasized its role in promoting biodiversity and sustainability in the Caspian region, as well as its contribution to strengthening European connectivity and supporting global initiatives to reduce carbon emissions by 2050.
