The second workshop called Caspian Blue Horizons was held in Switzerland with the support of the Port of Baku
The Port of Baku organized the second Caspian Blue Horizons workshop in Bern, Switzerland. This event carried out jointly with the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Switzerland and Liechtenstein and sponsored by "SOCAR Trading", brought together leading environmental experts from Switzerland, Italy and Azerbaijan.
The purpose of the workshop is to enhance climate resilience in the Caspian Sea basin and develop data-driven sustainability strategy. Important topics such as, aquaculture and ecosystem sustainability and the sensitive approach and role of the Port of Baku in these areas were also emphasized. At the workshop, Fuad Isgandarov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein, environmental expert Elnur Safarov representing the Port of Baku, Elshad Rzayev from "Azerbaijan Fish Farm" LLC, professors from University of Bologna, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, and experts on the subject from several institutions participated.
It should be noted that the first inaugural workshop of Caspian Blue Horizons was held at ADA University on 10-11 June, 2024. In the two-day workshop, about 100 participants, including more than 30 prominent scientists and researchers from 15 leading universities and academic institutions of 12 countries, took part in various thematic panels.
Among the participants were important figures in the field, such as Mukhtar Babayev, the President-Designate of COP29, Taleh Ziyadov, the Director-General of the Port of Baku, and Nigar Arpadarai, the UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29, etc.
