Officials from the USA Climate Foundation visited the Port of Baku
On November 16, the delegation of the United States Climate Foundation visited the Port of Baku within the framework of COP29. At the meeting, the guests were provided with extensive information about the environmental initiatives and green port practices implemented by the Port of Baku within the framework of COP29. It was noted that the Port of Baku together with Malaysia’s “Tiza Green Energy” company launched the first project integrating Azerbaijan's solar energy with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The construction of a 5.4 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) system will take place in the port area. At the same time, the agreement on the construction of an intermodal cargo terminal, which will significantly support the Middle Corridor, was reached within the framework of COP29.
Taleh Ziyadov, the Director-General of the Port of Baku, also spoke about the important steps taken by our organization in the direction of the strategy of decarbonization and environmental protection. During the meeting, representatives of the U.S. Climate Foundation were informed about the important role of the Port of Baku as an international trade and logistics hub along the Middle Corridor, its regional transport infrastructure, terminals equipped with modern technologies, as well as the green energy initiatives implemented there.
During the visit, the guests were introduced to the port’s operations process, which meets modern standards and its terminals equipped with advanced technologies.
