Port of Baku Presents its achievements on the 2018-Adopted Vision for Net-Zero Emissions by 2035 at COP29 Azerbaijan Business Forum
Dr. Taleh Ziyadov, Director General of the Port of Baku, attended the COP29 Azerbaijan Business Forum. He presented the Port's strategy to achieve net-zero emissions by 2035, adopted in 2018. Key milestones include becoming the first green port in the region and the first public company from Azerbaijan to join the UN Global Compact.
Dr. Ziyadov discussed carbon emissions and their calculations in port operations. He emphasized the Port’s green strategy and the importance of the private sector aligning with COP outcomes. He highlighted the Port's sustainability achievements and stressed the need for public-private partnerships, climate resilience projects, tax exemptions for renewable energy, and green investments like green bonds, as pillars of the Port's ESG strategy.
